A special visit this morning with the opening of the Leo-Lev Exhibition Centre.

Monsignor Michelangelo Giannotti – Vicar General and Director of the Office for Sacred Art and Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage of the Archdiocese of Lucca – visited Vinci to inspect the progress of the restoration of the Madonna del Parto, Monsignor Michelangelo Giannotti – Vicar General and Director of the Office for Sacred Art and Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage of the Archdiocese of Lucca – came to Vinci accompanied by Don Cyprien Mwiseneza (Parish priest of San Gennaro where the Angel of San Gennaro and the Madonna del Parto are located) and Ilaria Boncompagni (Official of the Soprintendenza Archeologica Belle Arti e Paesaggio of the Provinces of Lucca and Massa Carrara). They were welcomed by the President of Leo-Lev Artistic Activities, Oreste Ruggiero.

The guests have visited the rooms of the Leo-Lev Centre that have been set up for the new exhibitions in addition to those of the Annunciation Angel and the restoration of the Madonna del Parto, dwelling in particular on the mysterious and unique beauty of the Madonna del Parto.

The restoration work in progress was presented by the Cultural Heritage restorers: Filippo Tattini and Iolanda Larenza. A pleasant meeting in which the restoration technicians explained in detail the various interventions on the terracotta sculpture of the Pieve di San Gennaro, highlighting what has emerged from the work of renovation of the sculpture, part of which is already visible and will be the subject of a report-publication.

After a closure of more than 70 days, imposed by the health emergency, the Leo-Lev Centre is now preparing to reopen its doors. In the hope that art and culture will be a symbol of rebirth and hope in a struggle that we must all win together. Best wishes for artistic and cultural recovery for Vinci, Tuscany and the whole of Italy.

The reopening of the Leo-Lev Exhibition Centre is, for the moment, is the prerogative of the Tuscans.

The museum will be open from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in accordance with the anticovid norms: visitors are only admitted with a mask and must keep the distance.

We look forward to seeing you!
